This research aimed to reveal the reason, the process, and the effect from the tragedy of pulled-land mine in
Banjarnegara in 1947. It was expected that the result of this research could be used as a reference for the
readers related to historical tragedy in Banjarnegara. Alongside with its problem and aim, this research used
historical methodology which critically tested and analyzed the record and historical heritage to understand the
tragedy happened at that time.
The steps of historical methodology were: 1) Heuristic (looking for and finding a source), 2) Criticism, divided into
two; external criticism which was done from the outside (credibility and source); internal criticism which was done
from the inside (causality and content of the source), 3) Interpretation of the fact, 4) Historiography.
The results showed that this tragedy was one of important tragedy in Banjarnegara as an effort to defend
independence from colonialist attack. This tragedy was done by some public figures and partisans using a bomb
which was named “Bom Tarik” (pulled-land mine). This action destroyed the Dutch convoy and
killed around 22 troops who meant to take control over Kalimendong area.
This tragedy had surprised the Dutch government with the loss of financial and people. After the tragedy,
Netherlands never did a patrol with few troops. This tragedy has become a lesson to the next generation that the
struggle in defending independence of Indonesia was not easy.
