Abstract
Self-Medication as an effort to treat mild disease often meets obstacle due to
lack of knowledge about the drug and its use. This research was conducted to get
new insights of the effect of CBIA (Community Based Interactive Approach)
education method to improve self-medication knowledge in non-medical students
of University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. This research used experimental
method with pretest-posttest control group design and questionnaire as data
collection instrument. Total respondents of this research was' 200 non medical
student that divided into two groups, which were 100 students for control group
and 100 student for CBIA group. The results showed that there was a significant
difference between control group and CBIA intervention group that can be seen
by p < 0,05, which education with CBIA method could influence the increase of
self-medication knowledge on non-medical students of University of
Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.
