This study aims to analyze the slogan text with the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic at eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kalimanah in academic year 2020/2021. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. A qualitative approach was used in this study because the data collected in the form of words did not emphasize numbers. The data source in this study was the learning activities of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kalimanah in academic year 2020/2021. The data collection technique in this study was a student activity sheet in the form of a project.
The results of this study focused on three components, namely, the form of the slogan, the meaning of the slogan, and the structure of the slogan. The form of the slogan text has components, they are units of words, phrases and sentences, the meaning of the slogan text has components, they are lexical meaning, grammatical meaning and contextual meaning, the components of structure in the slogan text are several words which is assembled into a sentence, has a clear meaning, not just an ordinary sentence, has a real purpose, has a target audience or reader and uses persuasive sentence types.
From the implementation of the research entitled analysis of slogan texts with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic at the eighth students of SMP Negeri 2 Kalimanah, it can be concluded that in general, the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kalimanah can understand, and can compose the slogan text with the theme of the covid-19 pandemic well and in accordance with the existing criteria. The criteria in writing the slogan texts which are arranged based on the rules according to the form of text the slogan, the meaning of the slogan and the structure of the slogan. Hopefully the results of this research can be useful for us personally and for the world of education in general.
