This research has two objectives, namely. The first objective is to describe the
form of directive speech acts in Bude Sumiyati's Instagram caption. The second
objective is to find out the function of directive speech acts contained in Bude Sumiyati's
Instagram caption. Through this study, researchers will examine the Instagram captions
contained in Bude Sumiyati's social media accounts. This study aims to determine the
types of directive speech acts in Bude Sumiyati's Instagram caption. The types of
directive speech acts were described by the researcher. The research data are data
selection techniques and documentation techniques containing directive speech acts
which include the form of directive speech acts and the function of directive speech acts
in Bude Sumiyati's Instagram caption. Data analysis used with qualitative methods.
Based on the results of this study related to directive speech acts seen from the
aspect of form and function. In Bude Sumiyati's Instagram caption, six forms of
directive speech acts were found, namely ordering, giving advice, inviting, pleading,
suggesting, asking. Judging from the function of directive speech acts, Bude Sumiyati's
Instagram caption has various functions. The form of the command directive speech act
has the function of commanding, ordering, requiring, forcing, inviting. The form of
advice directive speech act has the function of giving advice, recommending, and
reminding. The form of the directive speech act of invitation has the function of inviting,
persuading, and supporting. The form of the directive speech act of pleading has the
functions of demanding, obliging, and fighting. The form of the directive speech act
suggesting has the function of proposing, recommending, and recommending. The
directive speech act of request has the function of asking, inviting, and requesting.
