Abstract

Shallots or red onions are horticultural products in the form of root vegetables that have high economic value and are also used as traditional medicines. The study aimed to obtain the appropriate response to manure and different types of mulch for shallot plants. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture and Fisheries, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto using a randomized block design with two factors and three replications. The first factor is the type of manure with four levels P0 (without fertilizer), P1 (chicken fertilizer), P2 (goat fertilizer), P3 (combined fertilizer). The second factor is the type of mulch M1 (without mulch), M2 (straw mulch), M3 (plastic mulch). This study showed that manure significantly affected leaf length at 28 DAP, the number of leaves at 35 DAP, tuber diameter, tuber weight, and plant fresh weight. The type of mulch significantly affected leaf length at 35 DAP, the number of leaves at 28 DAP and 35 DAP, weed dry weight at 14 DAP and 42 DAP, and tuber weight. Intraction of manure and type of mulch significantly affected leaf length at 14 DAP and 42 DAP. The highest value was 31.68 cm (P1M1), the number of leaves at 28 DAP, 35 DAP, and 42 DAP, and the highest value was 18.28 strands (P1M1), dry weight of weeds at 14 DAP, 42 DAT, and the highest value 9.17 g (P3M1) tuber diameter, tuber weight.
