Abstract

This research aimed to know how the learning of history subject is
implemented in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto. Three detailed
objectives of this research were to know (1) how the learning of history
subject is implemented in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto, (2) the
learning outcome obtained by the student through cognitive, psikomotor, and
affective competence, and (3) the problems and the solutions in the learning
implementation. This was a qualitative descriptive research with Miles and
Huberman analysis technique including data reduction, display, and
conclusion. The subjects of this research were the teachers of history, students
of grade XI Social Science 1 and 3 in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto.
The data were collected through test of students’ critical thinking skill,
questionnaire, and structured interview. The findings of this research are the
learning implementation of history play an important role in increasing the
students’ leading outcome of critical thinking skill. The student are able to
link the learning material to the daily happenings in their environment. The
optimal use of learning resources, media and fasilities supporting the learning
process can play an important role in improving the students’ critical thinking
skill in the learning of history
