Free radical exposure can cause dry and damaged skin, which accelerates the aging process. Free radicals are known to be purified by a substance called antioxidant. It can be found in purple eggplant skin. This study aimed to determine the physical properties, stability and strength of free-radical catcher from the gel mask of purple eggplant skin extract. It was extracted with maceration method using 96% ethanol then formulated into 3 concentrations, 0.49; 0.98; and 1.94%. The formulation process used a PVA base (Polyvinyl acetate). The results showed that purple eggplant skin extract met the requirements of pH test, dry time-preparation test and viscosity test. Ethanol extract of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L) had the IC50 value of 26,8224 ppm. After formulated into gel mask, purple eggplant extract had very strong free-radical catcher activity with IC50 value of 36,0255 ppm at concentration of 0,49%, IC50 34,6882 ppm at concentration of 0,98%, and IC50 33,0414 ppm at concentration of 1.94%.
