Abstract

Background: Diabetic foot infection is a chronic complication caused by diabetes mellitus. In Indonesia the problem of diabetic foot infection is still a problem that has not been well managed and is the most common case in hospitals, to address the problems of using antibiotic therapy is very important to see the outcome of therapy in diabetic foot infection patients. Methods: A combination of several review articles are used to make a consensus on the management of diabetic foot infections, with a focus on empirical antibiotic therapy. Results: The most common bacteria found in diabetic foot infections are gram-positive bacteria. The most widely used antibiotic is a ciprofloxacin, gentamicin (78.94%), Sulbactam ampicillin (37.5%), a combination of generation III cephalosporins and nitroimidazole (36.8%). OUTCPME therapy is cured, improved and deteriorated. Conclusion: From this article, the conclusion of empirical antibiotic therapy is used as a guideline to support the management of diabetic foot infection.
