Abstract

Concrete is one of the structural materials that are widely used as infrastructure development in Indonesia, concrete has considerable strength, especially in the strong urgency. Along with the development of technology at this time many studies have been found to get good quality concrete, including by providing added material. The material used in this research is fiber optic waste as a substitute for some Portland cement, which aims to determine the yield of compressive strength and get the best variation variation of optical fiber addition in concrete mixtures.
The method used in this study is the experimental method, which is conducting an experiment with the compressive strength of the plan fc '20 MPa, to get the results by emphasizing the relationship between variables. The variable that affects the compressive strength is seen from the aspect of reducing Portland cement and replacing it with fiber optic cable that has been cut into pieces about 2-3 cm and has been through the roasting process so as to obtain optical fiber and ash which is then filtered with a No.200 filter. Stages of implementation consist of preparation, mixed plans, manufacturing of test specimens, compressive strength testing, data analysis, conclusions. This research is expected to provide benefits in the field of technology and concrete construction in the future.
From the results of research, analysis and discussion obtained an average compressive strength with 0% fiber; 1%; 1.5%; and 2% respectively were 23.59 MPa; 26.37 MPa; 31.85 MPa; and 28.54 MPa. In order to get the best addition of fiber optic cable waste with 1.5% optical fiber that is equal to 31.85 MPa, an increase of 35% from normal concrete.
