Abstract
Background: Instant powder is a traditional medicinal preparation which is still consumed by the public today. Lead exposure can occur as a result of consuming food, drinks or through inhalation from the air, lead exposure can also occur through skin, eye, or parenteral contact. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze lead metal in traditional medicinal products to check the safety of a medicinal product. traditional when consumed. Methods: Analysis of lead metal (Pb) contamination in traditional medicines and traditional medicinal raw materials using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry method has been carried out in several countries including Indonesia. Results: From the results of 13 literature reviews, it can be concluded that the method that shows the best results is the research conducted by Nkansah and Amoako (2010) and Asra, Maisitoh and Rusdi (2019) based on the parameter aspects of the analysis method validation. In the research of Asra, Maisitoh and Rusdi (2019), the method is validated in the range 6-10 mg / L with a correlation coefficient value (r) of 0.998. In the research of Nkansah and Amoako (2010), it was found that the percent recovery value was in the range of 97.0%. Conclusion: The atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) method which has been validated can be used to analyze the presence of lead (Pb) metal contamination in turmeric instant powder on the market.
