Background : decorative cosmetic product especially lipstick are usually be
the favorite for woman. However, the dangerous coloring agents like red
K.3, red K.10 that was carcinogenic and caused cancer. One alternative that
can be done is to use natural dyes in lipstick preparations. Young teak
leaves (Tectona grandis L.f) are plants that contain anthocyanin color
pigments that can be used as natural dyes in likuid lipstick formulations.
The use of natural-based dyes is currently in demand by the public because
of concerns over the side effects of using synthetic dyes. The purpose of this
article review was to determine the possible formulations to deliver young
teak leaf extract in lipstick preparations. Method : Determination of the
optimum formula using a review article with an analysis of the effectiveness
of young teak leaf extract as a cosmetic coloring, the effectiveness of solid
lipstick preparations as decorative cosmetics, solid lipstick formulations
from plant extracts. Optimization design of liquid lipstick preparations from
ethanolic extracts of young teak leaves. Result : Lipstick formulation with
teak leaf extract content 70 % and variations of carbopol and polivinil
alkohol had a positive effect on the physical properties of the lipstick,

). Conclusion : Lipstick formulation with teak leaf extract content and
variations of carbopol and polivinil alkohol had a positive effect on the
