The research is entitled Types of Directive Illocutionary Speech of the Main
Speakers on The Onsu Family Youtube Channel period of December 2019. This
research aims to describe the types of directive illocutionary speech of the main
speakers' speech on The Onsu Family YouTube Channel. This is a descriptive
qualitative research. In this study, 123 main speakers' speech on The Onsu Family
YouTube channel for period of December 2019 were used as research data. The data
source was the main speakers' utterance, namely by Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah. This
research included three stages, namely the stage of providing data, analyzing data,
and presenting the data analysis result. The stage of presenting data used the
observation method with the basic technique of tapping, the advanced techniques of
this observation method was involved conversation observation technique (TSLC), the
recording technique, the note-taking technique. The data analysis stage used the
pragmatic method with dividing-key-factors technique (PUP). The stage of presenting
data analysis used an informal method, namely using ordinary words. This study
resulted 123 of utterances data, including; 18 of requests, 35 of questions, 27 of
orders, 18 of prohibitions 18, 12 of permissions, and 13 of advices. Based on the
results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the directive illocutionary speech
used by the main speakers on The Onsu Family YouTube Channel period of December
2019 is the question directive illocutionary speech, which is marked by the question
words (what, where, who, how, when, why) to obtain information from speech
partners which suits to the context of the situation.
