Abstract

Acute respiratory tract infection (ARI) is an acute infection that attacks one or
more of the respiratory tract from the nose to the alveoli. This disease often occurs
in children. In Indonesia, around 10 million childern of occur ARI every year. Of
all the cases that occur in the community, 7-13% are severe cases and should be
hospitalized. The incidence of coughs and colds in infants is estimated to occur 2-
3 times per year. ARI is also one of the main causes of patient visits in Public
Health Center (40% -60%) and hospitals (15% -30%). This study was aimed to
determine the use of drug combinations for outpatient toddlers patients and to
know which combination that was the most effective cost at the Talang Health
Center. This type of research was analytical observation with cross sectional
design. The sampling method was carried out in total sampling for all ARI
patients in outpatient care at Talang Health Center in 2016. Of the 47 patients
with ARI under five who were included in the study sample, there were 93.6% of
patients who recovered using ARI drug combination. The most cost effective ARI
drug combination was Antibiotics + PCT + CTM + GG with an ICER value of
Rp. 5,311,15.
