This study aimed to determine the description of the area, the development
of the ceramic industry, and the socio-economic life of ceramic laborers in
Klampok Village, Purworejo sub-district, Banjarnegara Regency in 1980-2014.
Based on the research problems and objectives, this study was conducted by
historical research which analyzed the reality of the past. The research stages of
histirical methods were: 1. Heuristic; searching and gathering historical sources.
2. Criticism, which was divided into two; external criticism (criticism from the
external/authenticity of the source) and internal criticism (criticism from the
credibility/reliability of the source). 3. Interpretation; interpreting of providing
meaning to historical facts. 4. Historiography; writing history. The research
findings were in the form of a description of Klampok Village in total. Klampok
Village was an area in the Banjarnegara Regency. The majority of the population
was farmers. Meanwhile, after the existence of the ceramic industry in the 1980s,
The people finally changed their profession in the labor of the ceramic industry.
During its development, Klampok began to become a ceramic industry in the
1980s and finally establised the ceramic industry. The peak phase of the ceramic
industry occured when Indonesia experienced the Monetary Crisis in 1998.
However, the Bali bombings stroke, and there was a decrease in the number of
ceramic demand because the visitors, dominated by foreign tourists, were afraid
to come to Indonesia. The decline affected the socio-economic life of the Klampok
ceramic laborers. Many industries were out of business and made many Klampok
industrial laborers left and set up their businesses out of the ceramic industry.
