This study aims to describe the ability of mathematical connections and self-confidence of
class VII students. The subjects of this study were grade VIIG students of SMP Negeri 3
Sokaraja by using purposive sampling technique. Students are grouped into three groups:
high, medium and low grades. Each of the three students was chosen as a respondent.
The data was collected by using questionnaires, tests and interviews. Test the results of
data analysis using triangulation techniques. The results obtained are that 1) The ability
of students' mathematical connections, high value groups, students are able to understand
and connect between topics in mathematics, they are able to understand and connect
mathematical concepts with other sciences, and are able to understand and apply
mathematics in everyday life. Students' mathematical connection skills, moderate value
groups, students are quite capable of understanding and connecting between topics in
mathematics, quite capable of understanding and connecting mathematical concepts with
other sciences, and quite capable of understanding and applying mathematics in
everyday life. Students' mathematical connection skills, low-value groups, students are
unable to understand and connect between topics in mathematics, unable to understand
and connect mathematical concepts with other sciences and unable to understand and
apply mathematics in everyday life. 2) Self confidence of students with high grades is
good, medium grades is good enough and low grades groups is not good enough.
