Abstract

Since the end of December 2019 the covid-19 virus had begun to spread in several part of the country, especially in Indonesia. This virus had a bad influence in various fields, especially in the field of education. Initially all kinds of face to face meetings that usually take place in classrooms had to be forcibly stopped to reduce the spread of the virus. This research aimed to analyze students difficulties in following online learning in English Education Department Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. This research used descriptive quantitative method. The data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. There were 14 statements in questionnaire and 10 questions in interview. The respondent of this research were from second semester of English Education Department. There were 54 respondents who filled it. 5 respondents were interviewed to confirm their answer in questionnaire. The result of the analysis was students faced difficulties in following online learning with percentage of 58%. The result shows students have a medium level of difficulties in following online learning. The difficulties which they faced are such as, bad communication between students and lecturer and students cannot finish their assignment because of the unstable signal.
