The study aimed to describe the students mathematical critical thinking skills in grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mrebet viewed from emotional intelligence. It was a descriptive qualitative study. The subjects were the students class VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Mrebet in the academic year of 2019-2020. The samples were selected using a purposive sampling method. The study used 2 research samples from each category of the low, medium, and high emotional intelligence. The data were collected by using emotional intelligence questionnaires, tests of mathematical critical thinking skills, and interviews. The results indicated that: 1. the students with high emotional intelligence were able to meet 5 indicators of critical thinking skills, namely analyzing questions, focusing questions, using existing procedures, deciding on actions, and making generalizations. 2. The students with medium emotional intelligence were able to meet 4 indicators of critical thinking skills, namely analyzing questions, focusing questions, deciding on actions, and making generalizations. 3. The students with low emotional intelligence had not been able to meet all indicators of critical thinking skills.
