Abstract

The high incidence rate of cancer and the unpleasant side effects of
chemotherapeutic agents are the common problems that often appears. This
research aimed to find out the anticancer activity from the combination of
habbatussauda herbal supplement (SHH) and 5-fluorouracil (5FU) against T47D
cell. The cytotoxic test method used in this research was MTT Assay with 24-
hours incubation at 37oC and 5% of CO2. SHH has moderate cytotoxic activity
(IC50 234,32 μg/ml). The combination of SHH with 5FU has the best synergetic
effect on the concentration of 40 μg/ml SHH + 30 μg/ml 5FU with CI value is 0,5.
The proliferation test was done by doubling time method. The combination of
SHH and 5FU showed the effect of inhibition against the proliferation of T47D
cell. However, it did not show any significant difference comparing to singular
5FU. The anticancer activity from the combination of SHH and 5FU was by
inhibiting cell proliferation.
