Abstract
The study entitled "Improving the Ability to Write Drama Script Using
Serial Image Media in Class VIII A Students of MTs Negeri 2 Banyumas
Academic Year 2018-2019", aims to improve the ability to write drama scripts
using serial image media in class VIII A students of MTs Negeri 2 Banyumas in
the school year 2018−2019. This study uses a class action research design (CAR)
which was carried out in two stages, namely the first cycle and second cycle
stages. Cycle I and Cycle II consisted of planning, implementing, observing, and
reflecting. The subject of this study was the ability to write drama scripts for class
VIII A students at MTs Negeri 2 Banyumas, totaling 32 students. Data collection
in this study used test and non-test techniques. The test technique is in the form of
the results of students' ability to write drama scripts, while the non-test technique
is in the form of observations of teacher and student activities. This research uses
quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Quantitative techniques are used to
analyze and compare the results of cycle I and cycle II tests. While qualitative
techniques are used to analyze and compare the results of non-test cycle I and
cycle II. The results showed an increase in students' ability to write drama scripts
and reach the target of the minimum average value specified, which was 71.
Based on the test results the average value of students in the first cycle was 69.93,
whereas in the second cycle the average value of students reached 76.34.
Increasing the value of students in learning to write drama scripts is followed by
changes in student behavior toward a more positive direction. Students become
more enthusiastic in learning, more active, and more enthusiastic about learning to
write drama scripts using serial media.
