Diabetes Mellitus is a disease indicated by the high level of glucose in blood
which exceed the normal values, the lack of insulin hormone production or insulin
resistance to blood glucose. Therapy that used to reduce the blood glucose are
insulin therapy, oral antidiabetic, herbs, or the combination. This research is
aimed to know the effects of combined oral antidiabetic drug with herb. This is an
experimental research with the technique of Randomized Pretest-Postest with
Control Group. There are 5 test group and the other 4 will be given an aloksan as
diabet inducer, based on ANOVA test give P value 0,0000 which indicates that
there is a difference. From the value of fasting blood glucose shows that the
combination glibenclamide with herb grading 267 mg/dL is not yet shows the
reduction of fasting blood glucose better than the single glibenclamide therapy
grading 228 mg/dL on the 21st day. The herb also identified with KLTdensitometry,
by comparing the herb sample with simplisia. Collected a value of
Rf sample 0,70 and Rf simplisia 0,73 also a similarity of chromatogram maybe
the amount of the herb is almost the same with the simplisia.
