Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a mega biodiversity that has very high plant diversity
that can be used for generations as a herbal medicine. This research was
conducted with the aim to find out which plants that had the potential as
antihypertensive by preparing and utilizing traditional medicinal plants in
Baturaden District, Banyumas Regency. This type of research used a descriptive
survey conducted by semi-structured interview to 23 informants at the study
location in May-July 2018. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively from
the interpretation of the interview results. The results showed that the most
commonly used medicinal plants to treat antihypertensive diseases in the
Baturaden District were cucumber (Cucumis sativus L), celery (Apium graveolens
L), bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum), watermelon (Citrullus lanatus), Noni
(Morinda citrifolia L), small goosberry (Phyllantus niruri), squash (Sechium
edule). While the most widely used method of preparation was boiled (47.82%)
and the part of medicinal plants that were often used were leaves (47.82%).
