Abstract
This qualitative descriptive research aimed to find out: (1) the forms and purposes of implicature in education slogan, (2) character values contained in the education slogan, (3) the usefulness of character building-nuanced implicature toward the slogan text learning in Junior High School. The data of this research included 62 utterances that contained implicature and character values. The data sources of this research were 62 education slogans taken from 14 places. The stage included; (1) data supply that used observation, documentation, tapping, note, and questionnaire; (2) the data validity that used triangulation methods/technique; (3) data analysis that uses pragmatic identity method with speech partner as the determiner; and (4) data display that included informal display. The results of data analysis and research discussion showed that: (1) the forms and purpose implicature included: (a) 21 implicature forms of declarative with the purpose of decision/assessments; (b) 7 implicature forms of imperative with the purpose of persuading, 18 with the purpose of suggesting, 11 with the purpose of ordering, and 3 with the pupose of prohibiting; (2) the characters contained in the slogan included: (a) 21 character values of independent that were shownd by the love of knowledge attitude, 5 character values of hardworking, 4 character values of discipline, and 9 character values of diligent; (b) 9 character values of integrity that were shown by polite behavior and 9 character values of appreciating achievement; (3) the usefulness of character building-nuanced implicature were in line with: (a) knowledge competency on KD 3.4 and skills competency on KD 4.3 and KD 4.4; (b) religious behavior competency on KI 1 and social behavior competency on KI 2.
