Abstract

Mathematical literacy is a person's ability to use mathematical knowledge to solve a problem that is closely related in everyday life. One dimension in mathematical literacy is quantitative literacy. Quantitative literacy is the ability of individuals to process information and use mathematical knowledge to solve problems related to numbers. The study was conducted in SMP Negeri 2 Banyumas with research subjects of the seventh graders. It purpose to describe students' mathematical literacy ability. Research subjects were grouped into 3 categories namely students with low, average, and high achievement. It was selected 3 students from each category to be the respondents of the research. Test and interview were used to collect the data. Data analysis techniques by Miles and Huberman model were conducted through reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results obtained show that students with low achievement master aspects of interpretation. Students with average achievement are mastering aspects of interpretation and communication orally. High achieving students master all aspects of interpretation, representation, calculation, analysis and communication.
