Abstract
This research was aimed to investigate the questioning types used by English teacher in the classroom. The research used qualitative method. Observation and interview was used to collect the data. The participants of this research were 3 English teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Tambak. The result found that all teachers applied knowledge, comprehension and application question in the class and no one applied synthesize question. Knowledge question was the most dominant question given by the teacher with 62 questions (45.58%). Then it was followed by comprehension question with 61 questions (44.85%). After that it was followed by application question with 7 questions (5.147%), and analyze question with 4 questions (2.94%). Finally, evaluate question was the least types of question gave by teacher 1 with 2 questions (1.47%).
