Hypertension is one of the risk factors for cardiovascular and kidney disease. Central Java occupies the largest proportion of patients with hypertension which reported 57.89%. Disobedience the treatment of hypertension is a factor that can delay the blood pressure control.So it requires intervention to help increase patient adherence to therapy. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of smart pillbox on adherence to hypertensive patients and assess the effect of smart pillbox on the effectiveness of therapy for hypertensive patients at Rowokele health center in Kebumen area. This research was conducted in a analyticalcross-sectional which was prospective. The subjects who met the inclusion criteria was30 hypertensive patients which divided into two groups: 15 patients who received an intervention in the form of smart pillbox and 15 patients who were in control. Exclusion criteria was patients with hearing loss, visual impairments and speech disorders. Data collection was done by looking at the remaining drugs in patients who are in smart pillbox observed every 2 weeks followed by looking at the patient's blood pressure to see the effectiveness of therapy. The results showed that giving smart pillbox to obedience of hypertensive patients with p-value 0.598 and therapeutic effectiveness with p-value 0.642. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the effect of smart pillbox on adherence and influence of smart pillbox on the effectiveness of therapy for hypertensive patients did not differ significantly between the two groups.
