Hypertension is a chronic disease that is often called the silent killer because
in general patients do not know that they suffer from hypertension before
checking their blood pressure. Based on the results of the 2013 Riskesdas
showed that the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia amounted to 25.8%
suffering from hypertension. The high incidence of hypertension, there is a
need for prevention namely providing non-pharmacological therapy in the
form of Al-Quran murotal therapy and instrumental music. This study aims to
identify differences in the effectiveness of murotal therapy and instrumental
music in pharmacy counseling on blood pressure reduction in East and North
Purwokerto Health Centers. This study uses quasi-experimental research
methods (quasi experiment) using a pretest-posttest design. The sampling
method uses purposive sampling involving 34 respondents. The test results of
the average posttest systolic blood pressure and posttest diastolic blood
pressure with Mann Whitney test on murotal therapy and instrumental music
obtained p value 0.008 (<0.05) for systolic and p value 0.007 (<0.05) for
diastolic, means that there is a significant difference in blood pressure
reduction between murotal intervention groups and instrumental music
intervention groups in hypertensive patients in East and North Purwokerto
Health Centers, but the use of murotal therapy is more effective in lowering
blood pressure compared to instrumental music therapy. The results of this
study can be input as an alternative non-pharmacological therapy to reduce
blood pressure in patients with hypertension with pharmaceutical counseling.
