Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of teaching listening through Cartoon Movie.This research was conducted at MTs. Ushriyyah in academic year 2012/2013. The experimental research was carried out on January 2013. The total sample of this research was 47 students. The students were divided into two classes, the second grades of VIIIT was as the experimental class that is taught by Cartoon Movie and the second grades of VIIIB was as control class that was taught by classical technique. To get the sample, this research used random sampling technique. In the collecting data, this research used completion test (pre-test and post-test). Pre-test was given before treatment was done and post-test was given after treatment was done. Based on the result, it was found that Cartoon Movie was effective for teaching listening. It can be seen by the result of t-test, it was 5.811, and the result of t-table at significant level 0.05 with degree of freedom 45 was 2.141. Then, the calculation of t-test with t-table was concluded that t-test was higher than t-table (5.811 > 2.141).
