Fast Disintegrating Tablet (FDT) is a tablet that can disintegrate and
dissolve quickly with the help of saliva when the tablet is placed on the tongue.
One important composition in FDT is superdisintegrant. The presence of
superdisintegran in the FDT cause drug preparations suffered a rapid destruction
process in the mouth. This study aims to determine the effect of crospovidone on
the physical properties of tablets and gastric acid neutralization test. Tablets were
prepared using wet granulation method with crospovidone concentration of 10%,
15% and 20%. Physical tests carried out included weight uniformity, hardness,
fragility and disintegration time. The data obtained were analyzed using a oneway
ANOVA test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed crospovidone
increased the disintegration time of antacid tablets. Crospovidone also affects the
antacid tablet's stomach acid neutralization ability.
