The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of using Send-AProblem
technique for teaching writing on the eight grade students at SMP Negeri
2 Karangmoncol in the academic year 2016/2017. This research used Quasi
experimental research which the treatment was conducted on 9 May 2017 until 16
June 2017. The subjects of the research were 20 students of VII B as the
experimental group and 20 students of VIII A as control group. The test was used
as the instrument to collect the data, essay. T-test formula was used to analyze the
data. Based on th. Based on the computation, t-test result was 2.287 and r-table
was 1.68595 at the significant level 0,05 with the degree of fredom 38. It showed
that t-test result was higher than r-table (2.287>1.68595). the pre-test and post-test
result for four aspects of writing namely content, vocabulary, language, mechanic
aspect were significant and one of the aspect was not significant , it was
organization. Based on the result of research, it can be concluded that send-aproblem
technique was effective for teaching writing. Thus, the hypotesis which
stated that send-a problem is effective for teaching writing was accepted.
