Abstract

Learning process is related to the problems of mind and emotion, and one form of emotion is fear. Fear which is too high will cause symptoms in the form of anxiety symptoms. Various symptoms commonly experienced by students by having learning anxiety symptoms before national exam because they are faced with various types of test. Learning anxiety that is not anticipated can be a barrier to students in the learning process. This research aims to determine students' learning anxiety and to know parents' roles in overcoming students' learning anxiety. It employed descriptive quantitative through questionnaire and interview as data collection. The result revealed that students' learning anxiety can be different based on students' background, especially parents' roles to support students' learning process. From the result of the questionnaire, there are some students' learning anxiety, such as 1 student who has the highest anxiety level (2.5%), 19 students who have medium anxiety level (47.5%), and 4 students who have the lowest anxiety level (10%). The result from the parents' roles question naire revealed that there is only 1 who has good role with the best category, 16 parents (40%) who have medium category, and 3 parents (7.5%) who have less category. Generally, students' learning anxiety before national exam in SD Negeri Wlahar 01 is on medium category and so is parents' roles to overcome students' learning anxiety. The results of the study found that students experience anxiety with the symptoms, such as sleep disturbance, somatic symptoms (muscles), and autonomic symptoms. The results of research related to the roles of parents in overcoming students' learning anxiety are roles as educators and caregivers, role of mentor, role of motivator, and role of facilatator.
