This study aims to determine the relationship between reading ability and writing
ability in school students who apply GLS with KTSP and schools that apply GLS
with K13 academic year 2017/2018. The type of this research is survey research.
Variables in this research is the ability to read and writing ability. The sample in
this research is 110 students. Technique of collecting data using test. Test Validity
and reliability test using Chi-Square formula. Data analysis using descriptive
analysis and nonparametric statistical techniques. Descriptive analysis by
presenting data through tables and bar charts, while statistical analysis
nonparametric through Chi-Square techniques.
The result of descriptive analysis shows that reading ability is in enough category,
that is equal to 63,41 and 65,60, and writing ability is in enough category, that is
equal to 56,36 and 61,72. The results of statistical analysis using Chi-Square test
techniques obtained values 27.018 and 78.168. of the results seen the value of Khi
count> Khi table. This shows that there is a positive correlation between students
'reading ability in schools that apply GLS with KTSP and schools implementing
GLS with K13 as well as the relationship between students' writing skills in
schools implementing GLS with KTSP and schools applying GLS with K13 of the
academic year 2017 / 2018.
