This study aims to determine: 1) the influence of discovery learning model to the
motivation of learners in learning text of the report on observation, 2) the
influence of discovery learning model to the learning achievement of students in
understanding the text of the report on the observation. This research is a quasiexperimental
design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population
in this study was all students of class VII SMP Negeri 3 Kaliwiro Wonosobo, 143
students. Class VII A, VII C, VII E as an experimental group and class VII B, VII
D as a control group. Data were obtained through questionnaire and test.
Questionnaire, such an attitude scale is used to find the motivation to learn. Test
was multiple choices of 40 items. This test is used to determine the achievement
of learning to understand the text of the report on the observation. Research
results with significance level α = 0.05 indicates that 1) there is the influence of
using discovery learning model to the students' learning motivation, 2) there isthe
influence of using discovery learning model to the students’ learning achievement,
and 3) discovery learning model has more influence on students’ learning
motivation than their learning achievement.
