Abstract

One of which is alternative learning techniques that can be used in social
studies learning is The Power of Two type of Cooperative Learning Model. This
research aimed to know the difference of learning achievement between the
students taught using the Power of Two type of Cooperative Learning Model and
the one with conventional learning model on Respecting the Heroe’s Struggle to
Defend the Independence. This research employed quasi experiment method. The
population of this research was all students of SD Negeri 01 Tambaksogra,
Sumbang sub-district, Banyumas regency in academic year 2015/2016. This
research was carried out in April and May 2016. Two classes were taken as
experiment and control class through purposive sampling technique. The
instrument used in this research was 5 items of essay test with score of 0-3. The
result of posstest of experiment class is 78.78 and the control class is 71. The
findings of this research are tested using t-test. Based on the computation, tobtained
4.93 is higher than ttable 2.021 with significance level α = 0.05. Therefore, the
alternative hypotesis stating that the power of two type of cooperative learning
model is effective towards the students’ learning achievement is accepted.
Theoretical impication this research states that every learning approach has
different effectiveness towards the social science learning achievement.
Therefore, the appropriate learning approach must be determined based on the
students’ condition. The findings of this research can be one of alternatives in
choosing suitable learning model, particularly in improving social science
learning achievement.
