This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR), entitled "Improving Students’ Ability of Writing Poster trough Problem Solving Method Using Visual Media for the Eight Graders of SMP Negeri 5 Purwokerto in the Academic Years of 2012-2013". This study aims to determine the increase in writing skills through methods Problem Solving poster with visual media eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 5 B Purwokerto.
The subjects were students of class VIII B, amounting to 32 students. The research was conducted through two cycles, the first cycle and second cycle. Each cycle taking four stages, namely planning, action, and evaluation or reflection. This study was conducted with the involvement of the researcher who acted as a teacher and as an observer obsever student activities and teacher.
The results showed that an increase in each cycle. In the pre-test mean score 58.13 and the class reaches 10 students thoroughly studied or 31.25%. After learning through visual media by the method of Problem Solving in the first cycle average value of 71.93, which is thoroughly studied 20 students or 64.51%. In the second cycle the average value of 80.02 and the students thoroughly studied 27 students or 84.37%. So the ability to write posters through Problem Solving method with visual media eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Purwokerto shows increase significantly.
