The title of this research was “Social Criticism in Novel 86 by Okky Madasari as Literary Learning Material in Senior High School. This research was aimed at describing the social criticism in Novel 86 by Okky Madasari as literary learning material for students in senior high school.
This was qualitative research. The data in this research were in a form of text containing social criticism. The source of the data was a novel entitled 86 by Okky Madasari. Literary sociology approach was used in this research. The method of this research was analytical descriptive.
Based on the result of this research done regarding social criticism in novel 86, it was known that: (1) Social criticism in novel 86 by Okky Madasari were (a) social criticism for government that described the existing condition of government that was bad in terms of public service, city management system, performance of law enforcers, (b) social criticism for the authority controlled by other party, (c) social criticism for economy, that was a criticism about the different condition of economy that resulted to the different treatment in front of law enforcers and the condition as the reason for criminal act occurrence, and (d) social criticism for huma rights describing that there had happened the violence of human rights in the job seeking process; (2) social criticism in novel 86 by Okky Madasari could be used as literary learning material for the students of grade XII of senior high school at semester one with the predetermined criteria namely (a) language aspect, (b) psychology, and (c) cultural background.
