Pneumonia is the first killer for under-five children in the world and the
second in Indonesia. Its mortality rate for them in 2015 is 0.16%, two times bigger
than a year before. The under-five children with pneumonia are usually treated by
anti-biotic therapy to heal the bacterial infection. The problem is inapproriate
medication by caregivers; they do not give all the antibiotics, making a resistance
potential and the disease turns to worse. This study is to determine the effect of
telehomecare to the obedience of the caregiver in giving the antibiotics to the
pneumonic children. This is an experimental study applying a Static Group
Comparison. The samples are the caregivers of the pneumonic chidren who were
non-hospitalized patients in community health centers in Banyumas Regency. The
instruments to measure their obedience is the remaining pill count and MMAS
(Morisky Medication Adherence Scale) questionnaire. The result of the analysis
proves that telehomecare has improved the obedience level among the subjects,
with p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) and the cost for it is Rp. 107,550.00. Thus, it can be
concluded that telehomecare can be run effectively.
