Abstract

Background: Wungu leaf (Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff) has been known to
have anti-inflammatory activity that can shrink hemorhoid stage II. Flavonoid
contained in the Wungu leaves that as many as 3 g / kg as an anti-inflammatory
effect. Thus it can be formulated into a suppository dosage on the basis of the
combination of Polyethyleneglycol 400 and Polyethyleneglycol 6000.
Objective: To explore the physical properties and get the best formula on a
variety of combinations of series concentrations of Polyethyleneglycol 400 and
Polyethyleneglycol 6000.
Methods: This type of experimental research is conducted by examining
variations in the concentration of polyethyleneglycol based on the physical
properties of ethanol leaf extract suppository dosage Wungu. Suppository base
made with Polyethyleneglycol by the concentration of Polyethyleneglycol 400
and Polyethyleneglycol 6000 which was varied in 5 formula. Further testing
suppositories in its physical properties.
Results: The results of the evaluation of physical properties such as test
preparation and test the melting point melting indicates that the greater the
concentration of Polyethyleneglycol 400 in the formula, lowering the melting
point and melting the suppository dosage. Whereas the hardness test showed that
the concentration of Polyethyleneglycol 400 would lower hardness tests with a
concentration above 40% in ethanol leaf extract suppository formula Wungu.
Results Identification of Thin Layer Chromatography compounds are chemical
compounds flavonoids, tannins and saponins, found in the leaves Wungu.
Conclusion: Concentration of Polyethyleneglycol in combination as a suppository
base which affect the physical properties with the greater concentration of
Polyethyleneglycol 400 then lowers the physical properties of the test results
suppository dosage. Formula that has the best physical properties of the formula 3
with a ratio of Polyethyleneglycol 400: Polyethyleneglycol 6000 (50%: 50%).
