Abstract

This research aimed to improve to improve students’ comprehension
reading skill and democratic attitude in the fouth grade of SD Negeri 3 Giyanti on
the subject of Bahasa Indonesia basic competence of finding main clouse in
paragraph through intensif reading using CIRC learning model through Cloze
Procedure technique. This reaserch was a classroom Action Research. The subject
was fourth graders of SD negeri Giyanti 3 totaled 26 students consisted of 13 male
and 13 female students. This research was done in even semester academic year
2014/2015 in two cycles. Each cycles consisted of two meetings consisting
planning, action, observation, evaluation, and reflection. Students’ activity sheet,
questionnaire, and evaluation test required to obtain data about comprehension
reading aspect. The result showed that CIRC through Cloze Procedure was proven
to improve teacher’s activity in learning. It was shown in 73% of average
percentage of teacher’s activity in cycle I and improved to 87% in cycle II.
Moreover, comprehension reading skill was improved from average percentage of
36,5% in cycle I to 80,8% in cycle II. Democratic attitude aspect was aslo
improved in questionnaire scoring from 74,3% in cycle I to 85,9% in cycle II.
