This research was aimed at comparing the syariah nad conventional
banks’ financial performance listed in Indonesia Stock Exchenge in 2011-2013.
The financial ratios used were CAR, NPL, NPM, ROA, BOPO, and LDR.
The technique used to take the samples was perposive sampling, there
were 10 syariah and 21 conventional banks chosen to be the samples. The data
were in a from of financial report of the samples published in www.bi.go.id. The
data firstly analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and then data normality
test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov) as well as hypothesis test with independent sample Ttest
and Mann-Whitney U.
The result of T-test showed that there was a positive and significant
difference between syariah and conventional banks on the NPM and BOPO
ratios. Meanwhile, the result of T-test on the CAR, NPL, ROA, and LDR ratios
showed no positive and significant difference between syariah and conventional
banks.
