Abstract

The purpose of this research is: (1) describe the needs of students and teachers
to the teaching material to write text short stories, (2) develop a prototype
instructional materials write text stories based on experience (experiential learning)
to class XI SMA and (3) to validate a prototype teaching materials writing text-based
short story experience (experiential learning) for students of class XI SMA.
Research and development is to use research and development (R & D) level 1.
The stages of research R & D level 1 is a preliminary survey, the initial prototype
development, product design, product validation, as well as revisions and
improvements desain. The data obtained from the questionnaire needs of students
and teachers to the teaching material to write text short story, interviews, and data
product validation results. The data obtained from the questionnaire needs of
students and teachers are analyzed, classified, and described, while the analysis of
test data validation by expert lecturers and teachers were analyzed by quantitative
analysis descriptive that follows the shape scale lajuan (rating scale), tabulation of all
the data obtained on every aspect, calculating the average score, and the average
score change into categories.
The results of the study are as follows. First, the product developed in the form
of a module titled "Skilled Short Story Writing Text". Secondly, prototype teaching
materials are prepared based on the needs of students and teachers. Third, teaching
materials assessed and validated by the contents of the feasibility aspects, aspects of
the presentation of the material, aspects of language and readability, and graphic
aspects. Results of the assessment of teaching materials write text stories on the
feasibility aspect of the content of obtaining an average score of 4.57 to the category
of "very good", aspects of the presentation of the material obtained an average score
of 4.6 in the category of "very good", aspects of language and legibility obtained an
average score of 4.32 to the category of "very good", and graphic aspects obtained an
average score of 4.37 to the category of "very good". The score is accumulated and
resulted in an average score of 4.46 with a percentage of 89.3% viability. Based on
the results of those assessments, teaching materials "Short Stories Writing Text-
Based Experiences for Students in XI SMA" was declared unfit for use.
