Abstract

These days, the issue of feminism and gender is a common theme discussed in literature. Women are often discriminated against in society to negative stereotypes attached to them. This issue is frequently depicted in various literary works. One of the work that portrays feminism and gender stereotypes is Enola Holmes 2 (2022). This film tells the story of Enola Holmes and other women in the Victorian Era as they face various gender stereotypes in society. This study aims to analyze how gender stereotypes are depicted in Enola Holmes 2 (2022) and how the female characters in the film break these stereotypes. The research uses Linda Brannon's (2016) gender theory to explore gender stereotypes and feminism in the context of Victorian society. The analysis reveals that Enola Holmes 2 (2022) portrays several gender stereotypes, such as the view of women as weak, feminine, obedient, and emotional. Additionally, the film shows various actions taken by female characters to challenge these stereotypes, such as fighting for equality, starting a feminist movement to raise awareness of women's rights, working together as allies, and rebelling to demonstrate that women possess great power.
