This study focuses on the portrayal of hegemonic femininity and how the female protagonist, Eep, resists these norms in the animated film The Croods 1 (2013) . The research uses Judith Butler's Performativity Theory to analyze how Eep’s actions and behaviors challenge traditional gender roles and contribute to a broader discourse on gender equality. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method to examine the depiction of femininity and the implications of Eep’s resistance on societal norms. The findings reveal that Eep’s defiance of patriarchal authority and her adventurous spirit serve as performative acts that redefine femininity. Her collaboration with other characters also highlights a shift towards more egalitarian gender dynamics. This research concludes that Eep’s struggles offer valuable insights into the subversion of hegemonic femininity and its potential to inspire societal progress towards gender equality.
