Abstract

Abstract: The Merdeka Curriculum is implemented by developing the profile of children or students to embody the principles and values of the five pillars of Pancasila, providing a strong foundation for their future lives. This curriculum prioritizes the needs and interests of students, fostering lifelong learners. The Merdeka Curriculum refines the process of character building in students through the Pancasila Student Profile. Elementary education serves as an ideal platform for instilling Pancasila values, as this stage is more conducive to implementing such principles.
This study was conducted at Elementary School Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto with fifth-grade students from July to September 2024. The research subjects included the school principal, fifth-grade teachers, and students. The study employed a qualitative research method, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in the Pancasila Education subject for fifth-grade students at Elementary School Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto demonstrated effective planning by teachers, ensuring a well-executed online learning process. Teachers carefully planned and selected methods suitable for delivering lessons using the Merdeka Curriculum to facilitate effective knowledge transfer to students. The use of innovative learning variations by teachers also helped students and parents to engage more easily with the learning activities.
Supporting factors for the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at Elementary School Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto include active participation by teachers and the school in curriculum development, active involvement of teachers and principals in designing curricula that align with local needs and potential, enhancement of teacher competence in curriculum development, utilization of the Merdeka Learning platform, and provision of teaching materials tailored to local needs and potential. Challenges include a lack of understanding and support from teachers, insufficient facilities, inconsistent government policies, and low student enthusiasm in participating in Pancasila Education learning using the Merdeka Curriculum, which impacts the outcomes.
