Abstract

This research aims to improve the ability to recognize vowels using a picture engklek board in group A at Pertiwi 2 Pliken Kindergarten for the 2024/2025 academic year. This research is a type of classroom action research popularized collaboratively by Kurt Lewin. The subjects in this research were children who were members of group A at Pertiwi 2 Pliken Kindergarten with a total of 10 children. The methods used for data collection are observation and documentation. The data analysis techniques used in this research are qualitative and quantitative research methods. The indicator of success in this research is if the ability to recognize vowels reaches a percentage of 75-80%. The results of this research show that group A vowels in Pertiwi 2 Pliken Kindergarten for the 2024/2025 academic year before class research were 50% underdeveloped. After carrying out the action of introducing vowel letters via a picture board in cycle I, it was obtained that it was developing very well (10%), developing according to expectations (30%), starting to develop (40%), and not yet developing (20%). In Cycle II there was an increase in Very Well Developing 8 children (80%), Developing According to Expectations 2 children (20%), there were no children who were Starting to Develop or Not Yet Developing. With a percentage of 80%, the results of this research show that through the media of illustrated engklek boards, children can improve learning activities to recognize vowel letters.
