This study aims to (1) describe the forms of social conflict among characters in
the novel "Damar Kambang" by Muna Masyari and (2) identify the factors
causing social conflicts between the characters in the novel. This research
employs a qualitative methodology and adopts a literary sociology approach. The
data for this study consists of words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs related
to social conflict between characters found in Muna Masyari's "Damar
Kambang." The primary data source is the novel "Damar Kambang" by Muna
Masyari, published in 2020. Data collection techniques involve reading and note�taking. The research findings highlight four forms of social conflict between
characters: (1) conflict between social classes with two data points, (2)
intergroup conflict with one data point, (3) individual conflicts with eight data
points, and (4) intergenerational conflict with one data point. Character social
conflict was caused by two reasons, namely (1) individual differences (two data
points) and (2) cultural differences (one data point).
