Dawet Ayu Banjarnegara has become an icon of Banjarnegara Regency,
making researchers want to explore the history and development of Dawet Ayu
Banjarnegara. The researcher took the research subject on the biography of
Munardjo, the originator of Dawet Ayu Banjarnegara, as a figure that is not widely
known by the general public. He became a pioneer of Dawet Ayu Banjarnegara as
a special traditional drink as well as the identity of Banjarnegara Regency.
This study aims to 1) analyze Munardjo's life background, 2) analyze
Munardjo's biography and exemplary traits, and 3) analyze Munardjo's role in the
development of Dawet Ayu Banjarnegara. This study uses the historical method
which includes four steps, namely 1) Heuristics, collecting data sources consisting
of interviews, document study, literature study, 2) Criticism, which consists of
internal criticism and external criticism, 3) Interpretation, interpretation of data
sources which have been criticized, 4) Historiography, the final stage after
interpretation, in the form of narrative (explanation in the form of words).
The results of this study indicate that Munardjo comes from the Rejasa
Village and was born to both parents who work as farmers. Munardjo's simplicity
and perseverance has been around since he was a teenager when he followed in the
footsteps of his uncle, Dolah Satari, in selling dawet. At the age of 15, Munardjo
started selling dawet using a traveling carrying system. Munardjo has discipline and
firmness towards his children. He requires his children to get a bachelor's degree.
The name Dawet underwent a name change to Dawet Ayu on the initiative of Peang
and Penjol. Munardjo has a fairly central role in the development of Dawet Ayu by
always being included in local and national events. The figure of Munardjo is also
one of the reasons for the Government of Banjarnegara Regency, to introduce,
develop and provide good standards in terms of name and taste, for Dawet Ayu.
