Abstract
This research aims to determine the difficulties faced by the English Education Study Program at private university in Purwoketo in taking English Proficiency Test and the most difficult section on English Proficiency Test that causes many of them fail to pass the test. This research is using descriptive qualitative method. The data was taken from interview and document. This research addressed to English Education Study Program students especially eighth semester students. The researcher took 4 students who have low score in English Proficiency Test to be interviewed. The results showed that many of them had some difficulties in listening, written structure and reading comprehension section. In Listening section students assumed that part C was difficult for them and the sound from native speaker makes them confused to catch the meaning, and in written structure section they had problems with grammatical issues and tricky words, and in reading section most of them said that reading text is too bored, also the vocabulary was unfamiliar, moreover the text are too long. Besides, the most difficult section was in listening comprehension section.
