Abstract
Background: Uncontrolled and unrealized hypertension by the individual can result in serious complications. The purpose of this study is to determine the use of antihypertensive drugs, medication adherence, effectiveness, side effects and the relationship between variables. Methods: The type of observational descriptive research was carried out by recording the use of antihypertensive drugs and the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs by looking at blood pressure in outpatient hypertensive patients who received antihypertensive drugs in the first to third months, looking at patient compliance in drug use by calculating the patient's remaining medication by the pill count method, naranjo algorithm. Results: Pattern of use of antihypertensive drugs in the form of combination and single, single therapy with the most used amlodipine 5 mg as much as 44%, patient compliance in the use of drugs showed results from 16 respondents there were 14 respondents who were categorized as "Compliant", the effectiveness of therapy showed that 15 respondents reached the target of reducing blood pressure, the effect of the drug was not expected to show from the total number of respondents who experienced complaints as many as 10 respondents. Conclusion: The most widely used antihypertensive drug was amlodipine, the respondents' adherence to taking medication was stated to be "Compliant", the effectiveness of the therapy showed that the average respondent achieved the target of reducing blood pressure. The most common occurrence of side effects is the use of amlodipine with complaints of dizziness, drowsiness, cough, abdominal and joint pain. Lisinopryl in the form of constipation, fatigue and cough There is a significant relationship between medication adherence and therapy selection and therapy effectiveness.
