Abstract
Students' religious character must continue to be instilled in the era of
technology and information. This era has an impact on moral degradation and a
decline in character values, especially in the context of education in Indonesia.
Through cultivating religious character and teacher example is the right way to
overcome this problem. This research aims to describe the cultivation of students'
religious character at SMP Negeri 3 Kalibagor through familiarization with
religious activities and teacher example.
This research is a type of field research (field research) using a qualitative
descriptive approach. The research subjects were school principals, student
teachers. Data collection techniques use participant observation, interviews and
documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques use the steps of data
collection, data reduction, data display, data condensation (simplification) and
data verification.
The results of this research show that: The cultivation of religious
character has gone well, oriented through self-development programs and school
cultural integration. Getting used to religious activities significantly contributes to
the formation of students' religious character. Through routine activities and
spontaneous activities that are integrated with school culture. Exemplary teachers
are very influential as main figures who provide role models and leading
examples. With conditioning that is always carried out in every religious activity
and habituation, this ultimately enriches students' spirituality and strengthens the
instillation of religious values in students.
