This study is motivated by the pressure on students to achieve academic
success. A competitive educational environment leads to competition between
students so that cooperation and empathy are subordinated to individual interests.
Akidah Akhlak teachers have an important role in terms of morality as the main
pillar in guiding students to understand and practice empathy, cooperation and help.
The purpose of this study is to determine the role of Akidah Akhlak teachers in
instilling helping behaviour in class X students as well as the supporting and
inhibiting factors in instilling helping behaviour in class X students of MAN
Purbalingga.
This research uses a qualitative approach. This type of research is
descriptive qualitative. Data in qualitative research can be obtained through
observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses Miles
and Huberman's theory in the form of data reduction, data presentation and
conclusion drawing.
The results of this study show that the Akidah Akhlak teacher of MAN
Purbalingga carries out his role in instilling helping behaviour as a role model,
motivator, and evaluator. On the way, the teacher found supporting factors in the
existence of a positive school culture and also the involvement of many parties,
while the inhibiting factors were academic competition, low understanding of ethics
and morals and environmental conditions of students.
